The Hidden Challenge of Each Soul Contract Number - and How to Shift It

Welcome, I’m so glad you’re here!

Your Soul Contract chart is like a map. Each number in it carries both a hidden challenge and a pathway into healing. When we don’t recognise the challenge, it can feel like we’re running into the same wall again and again. But when we begin to notice it, even in small ways, we can start to shift.

That’s what this guide is for: to give you a quick glimpse into the challenges behind each number, and one simple, realistic step to begin working with them. It’s not about fixing yourself overnight (that’s not how healing works). It’s about those little moments of “ah, that’s me” and then trying something small that helps you move forward.

You may not resonate with everything I’ve written, and that’s ok! Some energies in our Soul Contract, depending where they are, may not feel so intense, while others can feel really strong. Either way, this is hopefully a start for you to tune into what’s running in the background of your life, and notice what you feel ready to start shifting.

1: When Power Feels Too Heavy

The Hidden Challenge: Feeling the weight of immense spiritual energy, which can show up as resisting it, avoiding it, or trying to push it onto others. You know it’s there, but it’s a lot to carry.
How to shift it: Ground yourself through something steady such as a daily practice, time in nature, or even a ritual that reminds you of your connection to Source, and that it’s safe to hold big energy. Without that grounding, it’s like trying to plug a high-voltage cable into a wobbly socket.

2: Leaping Before You Look

The Hidden Challenge: This number can often jump into things too quickly, whether it’s impulsive decisions, saying yes too fast, or perhaps making the same mistake more than once, before realising afterwards it’s not quite right.
How to shift it: Try leaning back instead of leaping forward. This means taking the time to pause before rushing into a decision. Even taking one breath before saying “yes” can make a difference and you’ll be surprised how much clarity arrives in that pause.

3: Not Believing in Yourself

The Hidden Challenge: Hiding your real self because you don’t feel worthy, and not knowing quite how to feel and express what’s deep within you. This energy can really hide away in shyness, despite having so much to offer the world.
How to shift it: Start expressing yourself, even in small ways like talking to the barista serving your coffee, or if you’re feeling brave you can join a choir. Just remember, your voice gets stronger every time you use it.

4: Gripping Too Tightly to Feel Safe

The Hidden Challenge: Clinging tightly to security, whether it’s money, comfort, or control, while secretly fearing there won’t be enough. Scarcity thinking keeps you stuck from moving forwards and this energy is all about leaning out of fear and back into trust.
How to shift it: Experiment with loosening your grip. Share a little or give something away so you can rebalance the flow of giving and receiving. Life isn’t a closed tap, it flows, and you’re here to remember to turn on the tap.

5: Big Ideas, Nowhere to Land

The Hidden Challenge: Floating in big ideas but struggling to ground them and assert yourself through your words and actions, which can leave you feeling dominated by others, overwhelmed, and overthinking everything you’re doing.
How to shift it: Anchor yourself by writing things down, saying them out loud, or setting one small boundary. Claiming your voice doesn’t have to be dramatic, it’s often about saying, “this is who I am” in the everyday moments.

6: Stuck When You Want to Create

The Hidden Challenge: Getting stuck in perfectionism, control, or frustration when your creative flow dries up. This energy is super creative, but really scattered, so it’s all too easy to get stuck in your mind and overwhelmed by projects and to-do lists.
How to shift it: Break down all your tasks into smaller more manageable ones. And don’t forget to give your inner critic a tea break by allowing yourself to enjoy your creativity, not because you need to, but because it feeds your soul.

7: Hiding Behind a Mask

The Hidden Challenge: Hiding behind a mask to feel safe, which keeps people at arm’s length and your heart protected. This is a controlling tactic of this energy that can cause you to lose out on meaningful connections, because people don’t really know who you are.
How to shift it: Let yourself be seen in tiny ways. Share how you really feel with one safe person, or even admit when you don’t have it all together. Vulnerability is scary, but it’s also magnetic for this energy,

8: Floating Away from Feelings

The Hidden Challenge: Wanting to escape emotions or disconnect from the body because it all feels too heavy or messy. The idea of commitment, whether to a place, a person or a job, feels too restricting and you’d rather just float though life without having to deal with all the ‘humanness’ of this earthly life.
How to shift it: Do something that brings you back into your body, whether it’s dancing in the kitchen, stretching, or walking barefoot. You don’t have to love being human all the time, but dipping back into your body helps more than you think.

9: Scared of Your Own Strength

The Hidden Challenge: Sitting on a mountain of power but not trusting yourself to use it well, which means either giving it away or avoiding it altogether. You may have experiences disempowerment in your life, which means that you’re not comfortable with power and can feel overwhelmed by it.
How to shift it: Try using your power in small, kind ways, such as speaking up in a meeting, sharing an idea, and begin trusting your intuition on a tiny decision. Power isn’t about force, it’s about integrity, moment by moment.

10: Perfectionism on Overdrive

The Hidden Challenge: Holding yourself to impossibly high standards and judging yourself (and sometimes others) when perfection doesn’t appear. This energy can be too overly critical, which can create a self-righteous and slightly insecure energy.
How to shift it: Loosen the rules. Let one thing be “good enough” today. Dinner doesn’t have to be gourmet, the email doesn’t need rewriting 10 times. Small acts of self-kindness, towards yourself, can soften the inner critic.

11: Pulled in All Directions

The Hidden Challenge: Learning new concepts or parts of building your life can be hard, and sometimes it can feel as if you’re just not able to do it all yourself. This energy is all about learning to be self-dependent and build your own value system, so you can stand in your own strength, truth and wisdom.
How to shift it: Build tiny routines that anchor you into your own strength, and try leaning on yourself for support and advice before you go to others for help. Think of it as giving yourself a spine to lean on when everything else feels wobbly.

12: Doing Too Much, Burning Out

The Hidden Challenge: Wanting to do it all, learn more, share more, give more, and burning out in the process. This energy is all about expansion but it often has no boundaries and no balance between the being and the doing, between the work and play, and between the physical and the spiritual
How to shift it: Slow down. Before saying yes to the next thing, ask yourself, “Do I have space for this?” Balance isn’t boring, it’s the thing that lets you keep going. Don't overstuff your diary, carve space for quiet, rest and relaxation, it’s essential.

13: A Tender Heart in Hiding

The Hidden Challenge: Guarding your tender heart behind a protective shell, especially around mother or feminine energy wounds, which can feel so painful. Being soft can feel like being to vulnerable.
How to shift it: Practice softening. This might mean letting someone help you, or admitting when you need rest. Strength and gentleness don’t cancel each other out, they grow together. Spending time with women, so you can reconnect to those feminine energies, can be really nourishing for this energy.

14: Losing Yourself in Others

The Hidden Challenge: Losing yourself in intense relationships or mirrors of others, forgetting where you end and they begin. This energy can get really emotionally burnt out and ungrounded as you bounce from relationship to relationship, seeking answers to who you are.
How to shift it: Take regular pauses to ask, “What’s mine and what’s theirs?” Boundaries aren’t about walls, they’re about remembering your own center. Just taking some time out from these intense relationships will give you the breather you need.

15: Always Searching, Never Settling

The Hidden Challenge: Searching everywhere outside yourself for answers, while overlooking the quiet truth inside. While you may want to try new things and constantly seek new experiences, going around in circles only tires you out and loses you time and energy.
How to shift it: Instead of Googling, asking five friends, or chasing another book, pause and ask: “What do I already know?” Nine times out of ten, the wisdom’s already sitting in your chest, and you’re here to acquaint yourself with these answer within.

16: Frustrated by the Everyday Stuff

The Hidden Challenge: Wanting to connect to spirituality but not quite being able to. It feels too risky, earthly life feels too heavy, and communicating your spiritual essence just sometimes misses the mark. Rebelling against your spiritual growth and the flow of love.
How to shift it: Try bringing a bit of Spirit into the ordinary. Say a quiet thank you while doing the dishes, light a candle before bed, or notice one small beauty on your walk. That’s how heaven sneaks into earth.

17: Swallowing Your Words

The Hidden Challenge: Silencing yourself out of fear or conditioning, even though a huge part of you is dying to speak truth. Overcoming soul suppression and freeing your voice is the biggest challenge, where you know you are worthy of speaking up.
How to shift it: Start by saying what you mean in low-stakes situations, like sending food back when it’s wrong, or posting something honest online, or being truthful with a friend who asks for feedback. Allow your voice to shine and be listened to, so you can rebuild your worth.

18: Never Quite Finishing What You Start

The Hidden Challenge: Getting stuck in indecision, procrastination, or abandoning things halfway because self-doubt creeps in. Overcoming the unworthiness, self-guilt and fear of making a mistake, especially from past experiences, is what keeps you stuck in indecision and not finished what you started.
How to shift it: Choose one small thing today and finish it, even if it’s as ordinary as folding the laundry. Completion is a muscle; the more you use it, the easier it gets.

19: Taking Life Too Seriously

The Hidden Challenge: Taking life (and yourself) a bit too seriously, which can make holding space for others feel heavy. Heavy self-judgement and getting lost on too many emotions can weigh you down can cloud your ability to support others.
How to shift it: Lighten it up. Watch something silly, laugh at your own quirks, let go of being the “serious one” for five minutes. Wisdom lands better when there’s room for joy.

20: Swinging Between Rules and Rebellion

The Hidden Challenge: Swinging between rigid rules and restless rebellion, leaving you in a constant inner tug-of-war. There could be inner tension that manifests as outer conflict with others. There may be rigidity holding you in fear, negativity or inhibition, instead of the flexible and flowing state that you have the potential to be in.
How to shift it: Try exploring gently instead of dramatically. Go somewhere new in your own town, try a different food, or shift one small routine. Movement doesn’t always mean upheaval.

21: Doing Life the Hard Way

The Hidden Challenge: Doing everything the long, hard way, battling through blocks with sheer willpower. This energy can be very restless and goal-orientated or stagnant and heavy. Either way, there is blocked energy that can create struggle, impatience, anger and exhaustion.
How to shift it: Let yourself take the easier route now and then. Ask for help, skip the overthinking, or rest instead of pushing. You’re allowed to get to the finish line without carrying three extra backpacks - you have nothing to prove.

22: Feeling Broken When You’re Not

The Hidden Challenge: Feeling disconnected, unworthy, or caught in self-rejection, even though deep down you’re wired for wholeness. You may reject your inner and outer beauty, so much so that you don't allow yourself and your talents to shine out into the world.
How to shift it: Practice tiny acts of self-acceptance. Smile at your reflection, tell yourself “that’s enough for today,” or notice one thing you genuinely like about yourself. Little by little, you can connect to the beauty and wholeness within you.
