Understanding your Soul Contract

Life can feel pretty challenging, especially these days when there’s so much uncertainty, chaos and change in the world.

But when we discover we all have a Soul Contract that we’re here to work through in this lifetime, it can feel even more overwhelming.

If you’ve recently stumbled upon the Soul Contract Reading work, as channeled by Frank Alper and taught by Nicolas David Ngan, then you might be wondering what a Soul Contract is and how you go about understanding it. Or perhaps you’ve done a little research already and are seeking to uncover everything you can about this work.

Either way, you’re in the right place, so stick around as we dive into the Soul Contract work and what it means for you in this lifetime.

I’ve been studying Soul Contracts and guiding clients through understanding the energies in their charts since the start of 2023 and nothing gives me greater pleasure than helping people get to know their soul’s journey, inside and out.

It is a deeply personal journey to become acquainted with our Soul Contract. Many people aren’t awakened to a sufficient level of consciousness in order to truly understand or integrate the energies in their Soul Contract, and this is completely normal.

If you’ve discovered this work and it’s lighting you up, it’s natural to want to share it with everyone you know, but quite often it won’t resonate with people unless they’re really ready to receive the message. We only receive what we are ready to hear, which is why this work resonates with some and not with others.

So, what is a Soul Contract exactly, and why do we have one? This is what I’m going to dive into first.

Why do we have a Soul Contract and what does it mean?

We are all sparks of the God/Source/The Divine that have dropped down from the 12th dimension to play the Game of Separation down here in the density of the 3rd dimension of Earth.

One of the ways that the Creative Force in the Universe seeks to expand its consciousness is to separate parts of itself, which are us in our earth bodies, that completely forget that they are part of this Creative Force.

Basically, we’re here on earth experiencing a separation from Source.

This is why so many of us experience homesickness, wishing we could go home, but we don’t know where home is for us. It’s also why our time on earth can feel so deeply challenging. Many of us feel abandoned here because we are playing this Game of Separation. We come from a unity consciousness where we are all one, into physical separation which starts the moment we leave the womb.

When we drop down from the 12th dimension to the 3rd dimension of earth, we drop in consciousness. We are souls that live within the framework of a conscious personality and our ego, which are all parts of us that we are here to transcend as we come back to the truth of who we are.

The nature of the Creative Force in the Universe is to expand, which is why we book a ticket to earth. Believe it or not, we chose to be here, living the experience we’re living. But the choice didn’t come from our personality, it came from our soul.

And so when we understand our Soul Contract, we can begin to awaken to what our soul is wanting to experience in this lifetime, and we can begin to work with it, rather than try and fight our way through life from just our ego, which can cause a huge amount of unnecessary suffering.

Ultimately, we have a Soul Contract so we can reconnect with the truth of who we are, expand in consciousness and come back to love.

How do we create a Soul Contract?

Sound is creative, and sound is vibration and energy. So, the sound of your birth name creates your reality in each moment through the sound of your name.

Your soul chose your birth name prior to incarnating, while still living in the higher dimensions. It chose a name that would create the optimal incarnate experience for it to know, learn about, and experience itself as God/Source/The Divine through the process we call life.

This includes the time, location, and culture you were born into.

To create your chart (and if you don’t know what your numbers are, use this link to generate your chart for free) we take the letters and translate them to ancient Hebrew, one of the sacred languages that comes directly out of the movement and sound of God/Source/The Divine in the universe.

Each letter of the Hebrew alphabet corresponds to a number, which is what we map onto your Star of David.

And so your birth certificate name creates your life from the moment you are conceived, and your Soul Contract reveals the predominant set of energies creating your life in each moment for your entire lifetime.

It is who you are and who you will always be throughout this current incarnation, but that’s not where the story ends.

Your Soul Contract has layers of interpretation within it - Karma, Talents, Goals and Soul Destiny - that all validate the experiences you’ve had in your life so far as well as the potential of who you could be in this lifetime, so you can live to your fullest expression.

It may feel, if you’ve had serious challenges and trauma in your lifetime, that your Soul Contract is making life harder for you. Yet there is a deeper meaning behind all that you’ve gone through and what you have still yet to experience that can feel deeply hopeful and expansive, even in the toughest circumstances.

And this is the point of a Soul Contract Reading.

What happens in a Soul Contract Reading?

While it’s easy to understand the individual numbers and what they mean through reading blog posts, watching YouTube videos or reading Nicolas’s book ‘Your Soul Contract Decoded’, the numbers all interact and weave together to create a story of your life.

What’s more, it can feel like the easy choice to use AI or ChatGPT to decode your Soul Contract, but I tried it myself as an experiment and got really bad results. Not only does it give incorrect information, but it lacks the intuitive channel of the Soul Contract practitioner, as well as the dynamic interaction between client and practitioner.

This is what forms the foundation for your awareness and consciousness as part of the process of knowing your Soul Contract. And it’s the practitioner's role to intuitively guide you through the transmission of each number in your chart, and showcase how the dynamics in your chart are playing out.

We are all progressing through our Soul Contract at different speeds and in our own unique ways. Two people may have the exact same numbers in the exact same placements, perhaps due to identical birth certificate names, but their experiences will be vastly different.

This is because your soul has lived many lifetimes, across multiple realities, dimensions and universes. There is far more to you than this current lifetime alone, and your soul carries the memories, the scars and the stories of where you’ve travelled so far.

This is why some people’s Soul Contract can feel more challenging than others.

It is your soul’s unique journey, and it’s the responsibility of the practitioner to guide you into deeper awareness of how the energies are playing out in your life, and where you need to bring your focus and attention to in order to move through it with more grace and ease.

And this is the key part of all of this work.

Knowing our Soul Contract is more than just understanding the numbers and what they mean, it’s really about bringing consciousness to the ego programming that is keeping us from feeling and healing the challenges in our chart. The more we feel, the more we can heal and transform the hardest energies in our chart, which are normally our karmic energies.

Each number in the Soul Contract system has positive and negative qualities.

In a reading we ascertain how much you are embodying the positive qualities of the numbers, and where the negative qualities are still keeping you stuck from being able to move forwards. This is why the reading is live, interactive and in the moment.

This is why so much of my work focuses on the healing aspect of the Soul Contract work because I’ve seen first-hand how freeing it can be to lean into the tough parts of our charts, and the deeply-embedded programming that is playing out in our lives, so we can come out on the other side.

How do I use this knowledge of my Soul Contract in everyday life?

We often notice that the same patterns keep happening in our life.

It could be that we’re always struggling with money and receiving abundance. Or perhaps it’s that we’re never able to feel truly confident in who we are, suffering from imposter syndrome or a lack of self-worth. Maybe we’re always unlucky in love, attracting partnerships and relationships that are toxic and disempowering.

It could be that we go through cycles of burnout and exhaustion, never understanding the real cause. Or maybe we’re always moving jobs, never quite feeling fulfilled and always getting stuck in the same kind of roles.

Whether you recognise one of those patterns in your life or not (and there are many different, unique experiences we go through), our Soul Contract energies are often the very things that are manifesting these continuing patterns.

This isn’t part of our soul’s plan to punish us in any way, it’s actually the very opposite. In order to come into the positive qualities of the energies in our chart, we first have to work our way through the negative energies.

A good example of this is that if your soul incarnated on earth in order to become a communicator and teacher, it may programme in shyness and unworthiness within the ego personality, which you are here to eventually overcome so you can express your full mastery and wisdom teaching from the depths of the soul.

Another example is that if your soul wants to step into its power in this lifetime, it may programme in the opposite - disempowerment.

This might mean that you initially experience great disempowerment in your life, perhaps during childhood with neglectful or abusive parents, and you are here to heal and overcome that. You are here to learn the true meaning of power, not the distorted meaning your parents showed you, so you can express it out into the world with great integrity and responsibility.

The point of a reading is to show you why those patterns are playing out, from your Soul Contract, and how you can start to shift your way out of them by bringing feeling-based consciousness to them.

This is what creates true empowerment, freedom and joy in life.
