Your Soul’s Journey to Awaken and Embrace Your Hidden Power

our Soul’s Journey to Awaken and Reclaim Your Hidden Power

Empowerment is a very overused word.

When people tell us to step into our power, what does it even mean? Well, that’s what I want to get into.

If you’ve even been told that you need to claim back your power, then this post is for you. In particular, I want to dive into the specific Soul Contract energies that are all about stepping into that power, and the challenges that come along when we start to assert ourselves.

Defined as ‘the process of becoming stronger and more confident, especially in controlling one's life and claiming one's rights’ empowerment is really about recognising what we deserve, and allowing ourselves to embrace it without fear, resistance or uncertainty.

This isn’t the easiest process for most of us, mainly because claiming our rights isn’t something concrete or tangible - it’s a process that has no edges or corners, and is completely different for all of us.

Perhaps the biggest challenge is finding the confidence to claim our inherent rights when faced with power that seeks to dominate us.

The struggles we face when claiming our power

All of us are powerful, and all of us are equal, and we came to earth to experience separation from source; dropping in consciousness and forgetting the truth of who we truly are.

Our time here is meant for us to awaken out of the illusion of separation so we can come home, through the process of ascension, back to God / Love / Source.

One of the reasons why we’re so scared to accept our birthright, creator energies is because we have all experienced past lives where we have abused that power. We’ve all had many lifetimes playing the perpetrator, then playing the victim, before finally playing the healer, and eventually the sage, or mystic.

It is this perpetrator shadow energy that can feel so strong within us, and scares us away from unleashing what’s inside of us.

We may have also experienced severe trauma from someone abusing their power over us, which can create deep reluctance to bring our own power to the forefront. This is very typical if we have the 9 energy in our Soul Contract, which often involves a betrayal.

But what does ‘power’ even mean?

It could be seen as a type of strength, either physical, emotional or spiritual. Or it could be recognised as the ability, or capacity, to do something or act in a particular way, or to influence or control someone or something else.

Many of us witness the abuse of power across the world in a myriad of different ways, especially on the political and socio-economic stage. There is very little positive association with power when we see how easily power can manipulate mankind into monsters.

No wonder we tentatively tiptoe around power - it feels like a corruptive force that is used more often for the dark, than for the light.

Yet, if we look at power in the positive light, we can transform it and change our programming and deep-seated beliefs around what power means to us, which allows us to explore how we can invite it into our lives in a healthy and balanced way.

If power is defined as the ability or capacity to do something, we only need to look at our own lives and all the wonderful and accomplished things we’ve achieved, in order to see how powerful we truly are.

Whether we've built thriving livelihoods, pursued our dreams, created families, or overcome personal trauma and challenges, each of us carries countless examples of the incredible power we possess. Even our bodies are a powerhouse - a work of art that sustains life minute, after hour, after day, after year.

When we look at the world stage, power feels overwhelming and dangerous, but when we bring power back to a grounded reality within our own lives, we recognise that it’s been there all along - perhaps it’s been a bit untapped, but it’s there alright.

The relationship between the Soul Contract energies and power

Another key energy which is all about power in the Soul Contract is the energy of the 5.

This number is all about coming into your truth and asserting yourself, your ideas and who you truly are, out into the world with the Aires energy of confidence and assertiveness.

This is a little challenging if we have 5’ in our chart - especially because the 5 energy often draws in people and circumstances that directly challenge the 5’s to stand up for themselves.

This energy is a steep learning curve, creating lots of opportunities for us to step inside ourselves and discover what feels true to us, and then learn how to communicate that out into the world.

Like the 9’s, this energy also experiences disempowerment, and we are here to learn what our power really is, and to ground it into our reality. Because the 5 energy is so ethereal, we can struggle to stay connected to reality, and often prefer to live in our dreams. This makes it difficult to fully integrate into our physical selves and harness our earthly nature as a vessel for our power.

When we think of power in a negative light, we often associate it with physical strength, a dominating presence, a manipulative mind, or a loud voice - traits used to suppress others. But what if power actually has a secret source within us, one that has nothing to do with outward appearances and everything to do with our inner reality?

Power has been mis-defined as having control over others, when it’s really about having command of ourselves. True power does not come from the easy path of dominating others, it comes from the inner strength of true awareness within ourselves.

Power doesn’t have to equate to brute force; it can also manifest as a quiet confidence that comes from within. True power lies entirely within us, and only we hold the key to unlock it, allowing it to flow through our being.

We all have the ability to elevate our consciousness through the way we live, our belief systems, meditation, healing, and many other beautiful practices that help us to tune into ourselves.

For those with 5 and 9 energy, who are deeply connected to Source, the more they tune into themselves, connect with their hearts, and allow Spirit to flow through them, the more they will access their inner power - intuition, subconscious insight, and clairvoyance.

At its core, true power is mastering and commanding ourselves.

The challenge of boundaries and power

Another number in the Soul Contract system that is linked to power is the 8 energy, in particular the 17-8 energy.

If you have an 8 or 17-8 in your Soul Contract it’s all about overcoming soul suppression and freeing the soul in order to come into your own soul expression.

All of the numbers are related to freedom in some way or another, but the 17-8 and 8 energy is particularly relevant for this. This is because these energies are all to do with creating healthy boundaries in order to protect ourselves from those who try to dominate us.

I used to frequently write about energy vampires, emotional manipulators and that narcissistic energy that so many of us have unfortunately had the displeasure of coming across in our lives.

The reason why is because I use to attract these emotionally manipulative people in my life - especially due to the strong 5 and 8 energies in my chart that were there to help me assert myself and establish better boundaries in my life with my work, friendships and relationships.

All of us on our emotional and spiritual awakening journey are here to break free from the control, dictates and abuse from the people around us, who are acting as agents of the matrix to stimulate our awakening.

But when you have these numbers it’s an extra challenge.

The 8 energy is all about boundaries, and when we have 8’s in our chart we are deep feelers and are capable of holding great empathy for people around us. Because we are so sensitive and feel things so deeply, we tend to want to fix, save and heal those around us, not realising that it’s not always our place to do so.

8’s hold the people-pleasing and peace-keeping role within relationship dynamics, which makes us attractive prospects to people who are still playing the role of the perpetrator in this lifetime.

The reason why boundaries are so hard to form is because they are so intangible.

But also, when we say ‘no’ to people, which is a boundary in its most basic and raw form, we also feel guilty that we ‘should’ be helpful, we ‘should’ be polite and we ‘should’ be kind. Guilt and shame and some of the strongest drivers of our behaviour, and we often go to great lengths in order to avoid feeling them.

For women, this is the ‘good girl’ programming in full force and the very opposite of stepping into the power within us - something that was specially designed by the patriarchy.

Discovering the source of your power within

No Soul Contract energies work in isolation - there’s always a story that weaves between all the energies, forming the bigger picture of why we are the way we are.

Coming into, or claiming, our power rarely has anything to do with controlling people or circumstances around us. Instead, it’s about acknowledging that we are sparks of the Divine and that power - the ability to do things - is inherent within us.

We are powerful beings just by being born, and when we channel that power into good, we can create wonder for ourselves and for the world around us by default.

Power is not about control of the external, it’s about taking command of the internal. When we become masters of our inner world, we step into the energy of true wisdom, which is the final path of the sage and the mystic.

Power is not something to be fearful or distrustful of, it is something to be gently embraced. And if we have a fear or resistance to allowing ourselves to feel powerful, we only need to tap into the beliefs encoded in our being of what we believe power to be, to untangle the truth within.

We may also need to confront the perpetrator shadow within us that convinces us power is dangerous and that we’ll misuse it. This might involve acknowledging past lives where we knowingly abused our power for personal gain.

And perhaps the most important one of all - we may need to heal the parts of ourselves that were overpowered by others, in order to find peace in holding that power for ourselves one day. Once we release the trauma of past experiences that keep us in survival mode, we can begin to reconnect to that power within.

Coming into your power is about remembering that no one can ever take your power - your strength - away from you. It is inherent within you and this lifetime is just a journey to remember that.
